P20 Tool Steel Overview
P20 (DIN 1.2311) is a versatile, low-alloy tool steel used for plastic molds and die-casting dies. With 0.28–0.40% carbon and 1.40–2.00% chromium, it offers good toughness, machinability, and polishability. Pre-hardened to 29–33 HRC, it ensures dimensional stability. Ideal for injection molds, extrusion dies, and blow molds, P20 resists wear and corrosion moderately. Its uniform hardness suits large molds, making it a cost-effective choice for toolmaking.
