DIN 1.2311 steel / P20 Steel is a low-alloy tool steel containing about 2% chromium and 0.15% molybdenum, widely recognized for its good toughness, wear resistance, and excellent machinability. Mainly supplied in the pre-hardened state (28–34 HRC), it is commonly used for plastic injection molds, compression molds, and die casting dies.
Its consistent hardness across large cross-sections, good polishability, and suitability for nitriding or carburizing make it especially popular in mold-making industries
